15 in 15...

Happy 2010 from WTFspaghetti!

Its Saturday night / Sunday morning and I am at work. I been here for 6 hours and I haven't done anything. Its kinda cool, but mostly fucking boring. So I am going to write another real life post about an event that happened at my New Year's Eve party.

I promise that this is indeed a WoW blog and I will get back on track and talking about WoW tomorrow and the rest of the week. Infact, I have a few articles almost done that should be informational actually....I know...me informational?

Far out indeed

15 shots in 15 minutes....

Long time reader and former author of this blog, P, said he was going to do 15 shots in 15 minutes to bring in the New Year. Now, due mostly because I am a bitch, I did not participate in this event at our New Years Eve party. However, I made sure to have a front row view, that is certain.

Four people started on the adventure...how many actually pulled through and did it?

Well, first of all...the shots were in bomb glasses. They were using vodka to fill up the little cup and red bull or juice to fill the outer, illustrated in the picture.

1 shot, 2 shot, 3 shots later(so 3 minutes later)....one of the four said there is no way he is going to finish, but due to the fact that he is not a bitch, he continued on....

...however, after the 5th shot he was done.

After the six shot was done and a minute passed, we couldn't find one of the contestants! I went outside and I see him in the distance...you know...throwing up and what not. Little did I know, that this was not going to be the only time I heard someone or smelled puke that night.

So we are down to two. We got "P" still going strong and a 6ft 3" man that weighs every bit of 350 lbs, we will call him "G". "P" had a setback around shot 9 and lost a minute, but to my surprise, he came back and finished it out. In fact, both "P" and "G" did 15 shots however, it was not in the time frame of 15 minutes. They completed it in 22 minutes and I must say, I was highly surprised and will give them their well deserved props.

So you are wondering what happen at the 15 minute mark? Well, I tried to call it off and say that it was over and done with so they would stop consuming the alcohol at a dangerous rate, however....

...you try to tell two grown men that are already 11 shots deep that they didn't make the timer and tell me how that goes. We even stopped pouring the shots for them after that...which by the way was awesome to see these fools try to pour the liquid into these cups...f'n harilous.

I won't go too much further in the story but there is one other thing I would like to tell if you don't mind. I mean....if you are still reading this then obvisously you don't mind at all.

The scariest and most impressive thing of the night was not the 15 shots in 22 minutes.

Oh noes, there was something more at this party. Its how we do it in St. Louis I guess lol. Our friend "P", about 30 minutes later was FINE.

He was drunk, yes. He was having a good time, yes. But he was fine. He wasn't stumbling all over the place and talking nonsense like "G" was....no, no. "P" was acting his normal non sober self and that to me was the scariest and most impressive thing I saw so far this year.

Now I know that this year, 2010, was only about 1 hour old...but I PRAY TO GAWD that I don't see anything scarier then that for the rest of the year.

Lets be serious here for a second...

We don't judge people here at WTFspaghetti, so if you have any comments about drunk driving or any lame attempts into guilting us that we did something wrong...I don't want to hear them.

We are professionals and GROWN adults. We had a designated driver and all that jazz and I am happy to say that noone got hurt.

...well, let me rephrase that, noone got seriously hurt lol =P

So heres to you "P"! You may not be 40, but you are most certainly a MAN!!!

and anything else that pops in my mind...

Happy New Years Eve! Hooray! I want everyone to be safe tonight and wake up the next day alive and not in jail for drunk driving or any other crazyness. Seriously, have a designated driver.

The police make more then enough money on New Years Eve night to pay for the first quarter of the year expensives. So don't risk it.

fuckers...

But we need them to protect us from idiots and the insane people in this country. So cheers to that eh?

and anything else that pops in my mind...

You see, here at WTF, I like the balance between real life stories and gaming to be about a 5/95 split. Five percent real life ramblings, 95% WoW or gaming related nonsense. However, if you look at my header of my blog it clearly states...

Random thoughts and interesting stories about the world....of warcraft and anything else that pops in my mind.

This is one of those times where this post isn't going to be mostly about WoW or gaming. So you have been warned.

But lets me real...if you follow my blog for informative post only...you would only read my blog a handful of times a month lol! You read my blog to be entertained or you like my writing style....or both. So let me do mah thang and entertain you mmmk?

So lets get on with it shall we?

I was thinking about writing up a few things the past couple of days. A post about my blog (favorite posts, comments, memes, readers, ect) and all the bloggers I seen come and go.

Eh...too overdone in the blogmosphere this year for me. I did it last year for a New Year's post and it was somewhat cool...but that was 2008.

This is the last day of 2009 people! The last day of the mother fucking decade! I wouldn't feel right talking about what this blog did or what I did in the past year alone.

Then I thought I would do a Resto Shaman FYI post due to all the fail I have personality seen in regards to HIGH level and RAIDING Resto Shamans. Wrong specs, strange gear choices, gemming for incorrect stats like crit and intellect. Just wrong things to do as a wise, wielder of nature and its healing powers . The sad thing about it is that they are in guilds that raid 25 mans! One of them even had a gearscore of 5450!

Total fail and being the type of person that I am, it drives me nuts. However, this isn't just a Resto Shaman blog...I have plenty of readers that play WoW and don't even have a healer. Not only that, but...

...ITS THE LAST DAY OF THE F'N DECADE PEOPLE!!!111!!11!!1

This is important. This is not just another new year.

Think back to 2002. What were you doing? Who were you doing? Are you the same person now as you were back then?

The answer to the third question can't be anything else then the word "No". I am saying that because back in 2002, you never even heard of World of Warcraft. It didn't even hit Alpha until late 2003. Hell, back in 2002 I am willing to bet you weren't even a online computer gamer. I know I wasn't. I played a few computer games online here and there, but mostly with people that I knew.

Nothing like how it is now.

I been playing WoW for half of decade. The other half was dominated by console games like Super Mario 64, Halo, Age of Empires, and sports games like Madden and FIFA. I still play my fair share of console games, but my free time that I use for video games is mostly taken up but the powerhouse, virtual drug...WoWcrack.

Switching subjects sligthly....

My main goal for the past 9 years was to have fun, be social, and meet / interact with as many people that I could. Things are changing now for me. I am getting older and I have a girlfriend that will soon be wife. The core group of friends that I have means everything to me and I have no motivation to meet other ones and be as social as I once was. I have very little doubt by this time next year I will have a kid on the way. I have an office job, a college degree, and a house.

WTF happened!?!

At the begining of the decade all the way up to 2008ish...I been all about friends and partying. My focus has changed quite a bit from that thinking and it scares me. Now that I realize that the 2000s are done and in the history books, makes you think of all the shit that has happened in the past 10 years....in your personal life and in the world.

Animals tried to kill us multiple times. First is was the mad cow disease in 2003, then the bird flu in 2007. Most recently, and their best attempt to kill us, was the Swine Flu and it was actually declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. Was it really a pandemic? Working the shift that I work, I sleep through the nightly news....though...not sure if I would watch it anyway, but I didn't think it was a damn pandemic!.
------------------------

The Doomsday clock , symbolic representation of the threat of nuclear annihilation, went from 9 minutes to 7 minutes til midnight....then in 2007 it moved to 5 minutes til midnight. Midnight meaing...uh...BOOM.
------------------------

I don't think any of us, especially Americans, can forget 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. I remember Katrina very cleary. Even though it didn't effect me personally, it effected one of my current guildies. He had to stay at the metrodome and deal with all of the madness. I remember the day he logged back on, like 3 weeks after the strom hit. Everyone was freaking out because we knew he was going to be effected by it. When he told the story though....

just wow.
------------------------

What else? Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston got a divorce!

/shock

Brad then went and married crazy ass Angelina Jolie. They then went on to adopt like 10 kids from various countries.

Speaking of crazys...Brittany Spears was number 1 and could do no wrong in the early 2000s...then this happen lol.

See kids...this is why drugs are bad. I am not into nor follow celebrity nonsense, but those two stories come to mind when I think back on entertainment stuff.

Oh!!!

Who could forget the year were it was cool to wear a short mini shirt with no underwear while you have 100 people with cameras pointed at you!?! Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears...was there another one? LOL.

WTFspaghetti's 15 man Choir:

/spirit fingers

"Those bitches are NASSSSSTTTTAY!!"

------------------------

Its rather scary to think what I am, nonetheless the world, is going to be like at the end of 2019. At the begining of this decade I was a punk teenager, pothead, party animal, only concerned with being social, and hooking up with girls.

Towards the middle I was still a pothead and a party animal, but it was all downgraded slighty. I didn't party as hard, or smoke as much pot. I also got involved in a pretty serious relationship and I became addicted to World of Warcraft lol.

Later in the decade I already spoke about a little in this article. Quite a huge transitition if you ask me...but maybe that is because I am only in my mid 20s and I still have no idea what this whole life thing is I guess...I thought I did....but when I started thinking that the 2000-2009 decade is already gone. My brain was critted with a wall of shit to write down on a pad of paper, or on mah BLOG! Hooray!!

So do yourself some reflection. Think about the past 10 years and set some goals up for the upcoming decade.

Sorry if this post was boring, but my brain needed the relief lol.

Until next year, I'm WTFout!!

Blood Elfs are Winning? WTFmate!?!

I am not a hater, it is not something that I like to do. However, out of the 170ish votes so far on my poll, Blood Elfs are winning. My poor Dwarfs are damn near last place, but I was ok with that because Taurens were winning.

Now the frost tipped, Napoleon Dynamite dancing, Blood Efls have taken the lead...

I am shocked....I really am...

FYI

Being sick sucks.

Its crazy...

My girlfriend got really sick and I took care of her for a few days until she got better. The whole time I thought to myself, it can't be that bad...she can't be in that much pain right?

I mean, the last time I was sick was well over 3 years ago. My immune system is just gangsta like that I guess.

Well, sure as shit I got whatever she had plus nasty cough....it is definitely the flu and it sucks hardcore.

This is why I haven't posted in 5 days. My apologies....<3

Shaman Teir 10 is Finally Here!!!

Nope

I am sorry for getting you excited and letting you down. I know, that was mean. Here, have a brownie and take 50% off coupon to I.H.O.P. as a token of my apology.

But when I saw this picture here I felt an overall feeling of /sigh

I hope it becomes the most badass out of all of them after keeping us waiting this long. I mean, cmon! We already knew lore, new races, and the destruction of the world as we know was going to happen 2 months before they released the information at blizzcon this year.

Can't we get a glimpse of WTF the shaman tier 10 looks like? Do you think they even started to draw it up yet? My guess is that there first proto-type was fail, so they had to start all over.

Maybe this is a good sign....yes....think positive.

My First Post!

So it’s long overdue but here I am! My name is Potts. I have been playing WOW since back in the Vanilla days. I am a real life friend of the Doctor and P. After 50 or so drunken comments on how I need to contribute to the blog, I finally got invited to do so. Now all I have to do is not fail. My goals are simple. Say something funny every once in a while and be around long enough to get my toons linked on the main page of the blog. Anyway, here goes something…

(Not sure I'm quite in with the choir, so we can skip that. I'll just insert a random cat pic instead.)

What it do?

Recently I have taken a break from raiding. I was a little burnt out with raiding after that fail guild I was in with the doctor .While he was on his mission to find Jesus I ended up just pugging a few raids and doing some heroic grinding. After I got all of the badge gear worth getting I had to look for something else to do.

I didn’t have to look far. I am lazy but I am a competitive person. I found my calling in all things WOW that I used to find annoying. I have spent an obnoxious amount of time in the last few months grinding achievements and titles. I say competitive because the biggest reason that I do this is just to have more than my friends. The doctor gets his cooking title so I have to get it. He does a couple of the tournament dailies so I go out and get the Crusader title. He gets a new mount, so I go out and get 50 so I can get an Albino Drake.

You can guess where it goes from there. I almost forgot to mention that I didn’t call him during his WOW hiatus and tell him that he was missing one of the seasonal events. I knew that if I could complete it while he was gone I would have a better chance of finishing them all and getting my drake before him. What a friend, right? I just hope this doesn’t provoke him too much. If he did the exploration achievements he would gain a lot of ground on me. Even though I would still be crushing him in titles.

Cooking

The cooking title is coming along pretty well. I am just waiting on enough dailies to buy the rest of the recipes. The only one besides those that seems like it’s going to be a problem is the recipe for tasty cupcakes which is a drop. I need to find some time to go after that. I kind of wish I was paying more attention from the start. I have probably already seen it drop at one time or another.

As far as all of the outland recipes, those were all a piece of cake. I looked at the doctor’s previous post about his chef title and laughed a little. I got all 4 or five recipes I needed in just a few days of doing the Outland cooking dailies. There was only one barrel that I got that didn’t have one. Of course he was on and made fun of my frustration. I love it though because it adds fuel to my fire!

Boredom at it's best

While doing my cooking dailies in Outlands I decided on a whim to go and try some Netherwing dailies. Does anyone remember those? I can remember spending countless hours grinding out these dailies. Then you would almost all of the quests done and spend 30 minutes fighting your way through all the other people trying to find those elusive ravagers.

So I figure I could also use this as an opportunity to level my 2H mace skills. I recently acquired one in a pug and didn’t realize my skill was 1/450. I was amazed to find the ease of doing these quests. Well besides the fact that I could taunt the mobs to death, there was no one out there. I had all of the ravagers and EGGS to myself. The first day I picked up more eggs than I did the whole time I grinded this rep with my priest. Most were out in plain sight and didn’t require a scavenger hunt.

If you get bored and have never done this now is a great time. If you’re one of those fancy, hardcore type you could probably do it in 3 days. Soon I will dance around the doctor with my fancy mount and he will bow in all my glory.

Until then... I am WTF out!

I'm One HOT Piece of Beef...

That's right, I said it.

My cow is one hot piece of beef. More to come on this later in the post.

I did alot this weekend in terms of WoW, it was kinda nice. This was the first real weekend in the past 2-3 months that I had a good ratio between doing stuff in WoW and in real life.

Real life ramblings? Really? I didn't think you cared! Ok, so now EVERYTHING is moved from my apartment to my house. Everything is in its place and my apartment is completely cleaned out. I turned in the keys and I was a little sad. Lots of memories in that apartment...

/sniffle

I also did a couple podcasts about Fantasy Football over the weekend. Check em out if you're interested here.

Wait...so you lied? You didn't really want to hear about my real life ramblings?

Ahh ok, I see. Makes sense. Thanks for stopping and telling me the truth. I was about to go in depth on how to make a spinach kish.

Go Go Gadget WoWage!!!

Damnit, now I have the Inspector Gadget theme song stuck in my head.

Curses!

I did alot of cool stuff in WoW this weekend. I got me a Pink Elephant pet and the Brewmaster title from Brewfest. Have you notice how you summon this pet? It is different then anyone I have seen before, you actual chug a beer and he appears lol. Kinda neat I guess right?

So that leaves Hallow End, The Elders, and the Flame Festival left to do on my Shaman to get my hoofs on a violet proto drake. Its really not that important to me, I really don't care about the extra speed or the fact that it is a proto drake. When I first set out on this long, strange, journey (see what i did there? omg haha me) my sole purpose for completing all the holiday events was for the drake and all the cool titles you get to rock.

Then I got myself green proto drake and I love it to death. See the picture on the right hand side of my webpage underneath the new poll? Yup, that's my green proto drake, his name is Hubert. He is a gangsta...anyway

So yeah, once I got Hubert, I didn't care about the violet proto drake. I am still going to complete all of them to get the rest of my title's. When I get the drake I will probably only mount him in Dalaran to stroke my epeen to the masses lol.

Hot Beef

Oh yes, you were intrigued by the title and then you had to read through all that nonsense just to get to this point uh? You're a solider, I'm impressed. So not only did I get the Brewmaster's title, which is second to only "the Love Fool" in terms of badassness. I got the Chef's title as well!

/sexydancewhilesingingmileycyrus

...

Pretty satisfying after spending all that time running around and getting the recipes. Not to mention how lucky I got by getting all of the rare drops. The four recipes that dropped from the old cooking dailies in Shatt were all I had left for the past month.

Quick tip if you are interested in getting the title is that 2 out of the 4 recipes have a chance to drop from the crate of meat. The other two have a chance to drop from the barrel of fish. When I found this out I got the other two recipes within a week.

Now I have TWO badass titles to rock and I don't know which one to actually sport. I have been lending towards "Chef Teknizzle" more because he is a fat cow and I just think that its funny. On the other hand, "Brewmaster Teknizzle" would also fit a fat cow...so I am at a crossroads lol. Too bad I couldn't rock my four favorites at the same time...

"Brewmaster Chef Teknizzle the Love Fool of the Frozen Wastes"

I think I'm going to put in a ticket with a GM. Who knows...weirder things have happened.

Raiding Front

I got into 6, that is right, count them 6 10 man Ony groups this weekend. Why 6 Tek you ask? Because every single one of them was a fail. It was mind boggling. The funniest and saddest thing of every single group was the same exact thing. We had more then enough dps and every single player whether it was a healer, dps, or tank was more then enough geared for the encounter.

60% of the each raid...which is like 6 people out of a 10 man raid could not get the concept of the deep breaths. Don't get me wrong, I gave each of the 6 raids more then enough tries to get it down. I gave each one 4 wipes before I left. I might have stayed for more attempts but it was the same damn people dying to the deep breaths.

LOOK...Onyixa is very easy. All you have to pay the F attention when your screen says in BIG LETTERS "Onyixa takes a deep breath"

Look up at the whore and figure out which way her head is facing. If she is facing you, make sure you either move at least 10 yards to the side or get behind her. Its JUST that easy.

It really made me think that I must either be REALLY good at WoW or people were just too dumb to pay attention and get out of the way. Kinda makes me wish WoW had a single player mode option.

Speaking of Anubs...

So that was pretty frustrating, but I did get into an awesome 10 man ToC raid on Friday.

One shotted everything but the faction champions and we killed them on our second attempt.

Anub is a fun, well tuned fight. I really liked phases one and two, but I didn't like phase 3 at all. As a healer it just goes against everything you do. You want to keep all the dps and the healers around 20-30% life. The only people you need to keep topped off is the tanks. Freaking weird and it was stressful...but very fun.

Has anyone noticed Anub's loot table? Its by far the biggest I have ever seen. There is TON of crap in that table.

The one handed healer spell mace dropped. I forget the name, but its name is something along the line of "mighty chieftain mace". Either way it looks BADASS for a tauren and had 95 more spell power then the one I was currently rocking.

I rolled a 7

/fail

The other healer rolled a 5. Yes! I could win this! The raid leader starts his countdown...

5...
4...
3...
2...

The third healer rolls a 50. He wins...but this is not over for me. I inspect this priest because I knew that what he was rocking couldn't have been much better then that mace. He was in a very good end game guild. I was right, the mace that he just won was at best a side grade.

Do you want haste or crit. That was the only difference. So I messaged him if I could buy the mace from him due to the fact that it would be a big upgrade for me. He doesn't reply but opens a trade chat window with me.

I wait...

He doesn't trade it, he doesn't say anything to me.

I was like...shit...what do I put in there! Do I put anything in there? He might get pissed and change his mind completely. Ahhhh!!!

150g? I hit trade

He also hits trade, sweet! With enchants that spell mace upgraded my spell power by 107 and put my grand total of 2550 spell power without my totems. If I drop my spell power totem I have a grand total of 2745 spell power!

WTFMATE!?!

Too much Spell Power?

Way too much...time to regem. Now don't get me wrong, I want to get my hariy hoofs on as much spell power as I can, but there is no point in having that much spell power when you can up your other important stats...try to find a balance per se.

I regemed 4 of my slots to "10 haste & 5 mp5" gems and "12 spell power & 10 haste gems".

So now I am rocking 19% haste which brings my chain heal down to 2.1 second cast...aka the fucking hotness. 505 mp5 while casting with my water shield, a very good solid amount and 2505 spell power without my totems. 2700 with my spell power totems.

I also got some new pants and a new resto totem from the conquest badge vendor to bring my gearscore up due to the fact that I am applying for a pretty good guild that is on my server. If I get accepted, which is looking like I probably will, it will be the best guild that I have ever been in in regards to pve. These guys are leet but have a "part-time raider" position that requires me to attend 2 out of the 4 raids during the week.

I should be able to manage two raids a week. That is very doable, even on my schedule.

Coming Soon...

Expect to see an article about how to get into a guild that might be "too good" for you. On the flip side expect to see another article on how to get good, skilled players for YOUR guild.

I have been on both sides of the fences and I feel that I am pretty knowledgeable on the subject, so stay tuned and don't forget to check out the new poll!

Podcasting! Are you interested? Want to join up with myself and talk about WoW? Email me and let me know. I mean if anything we would have fun lol, that is a given!

Until next time, I'm WTFout!

LFG - Help a Cow Out!

Morning blog lovers!

I am thoroughly enjoying Brewfest. The daily quest where you have to shotgun a beer and throw the mug at the dark iron dwarfs is a pure win. Chasing invisible creatures that one can only see while drunk? Harilous. By far my favorite holiday event.

Last year during Hallow's End I decided that I was going to do all of the holiday world events and get myself a Violet Proto Drake.

I leveled cooking and spent a retarded amount of time on Winter's Veil. I got all my candy hearts and rock "the love fool" title all the time. I was doing really good until the "Elders" holiday came. For some stupid reason, I decided I was going to get the title on my alt...my Mage...because he was my very first horde toon to make it to 60 during Vanilla WoW.

I know...I went insane right? I figured it would be no big deal, I can wait a few extra months to get my elders title on my main right? Well, a few weeks after the holiday ended I realized that I made a terrible mistake.

To make matters worse, I took a three month break from WoW. The break overlapped the Fire Festival so I missed that one too. I wish I would have remembered, I would have logged on to do it...but oh well.

So I have to wait another 9-10 months to get my violet proto drake, we will see if that happens or not. I am sure I will get it, I mean I have been playing for damn near 5 years. At this point, I think the only thing that will stop me from playing WoW permanently is if Blizzard stops making expansions and new content.

Hell, I am not even sure that would stop me.

WoW has become such apart of my life. Video games in general have always been one of my main hobbies, so I don't feel like it is just WoW...but it is by far the game that I keep on coming back too.

I have meet a TON of awesome people and without WoW I would have never known that I enjoy blogging so much. This post is getting a little off subject though...

I know...this post has a direction? Who would have thought....

Guild Troubles...

The only reason why I have stayed in the guild that I am currently in is because they raid and they do not have any attendance policy. If I am on, cool, I will get an invite and probably end up getting loot. If I am not on, no big deal. When I log in I don't feel guilty and I don't have anyone yelling at me because of it.

This was not the reason I joined though. A month or so back I filled out an application and got accepted into a promising guild. Right before I was going to put in the transfer, my real life friend that I play with on the server joined a guild with a few online friends.

I spoke with the GM and got an invite. I figured that I will hold off on the transfer if I can find a guild that I like and enjoy with friends. Plus its on the same server as all of my toons, that alone was enough for me to give it a shot.

Now, the only good thing about this guild raiding wise that has happened is downing Mimiron in Uld 10.

That is IT

Everything else has been a facepalm after facepalm. Atleast in the 8-9 raids I have attended.

Not to mention that my real life friends that play on my server don't play the same times that I play anymore it seems. I see a few of them every once in awhile, but nothing like it used to be.

It has gotten me feeling all BLAH.

I love the no raiding commitment type of style of my current guild, but I don't have fun raiding with them due to the fact 85% of the players are very noobish and don't listen or perform well.

Perfect Situation

My perfect situation is to find a guild, ally or horde, that will allow me to raid no more then 3 nights a week, starts and ends on time, has great leadership, and will allow me to have a non bench position in raids. Of course I expect the guild members to ALL be self-sufficent and know their class inside and out while having the ability to do it. Talk is cheap mofos!

I almost prefer 10 man raids to 25 man raids, but either would do. I guess that if I had to pick I would prefer 25 mans, but that isn't really important to me.

Is anyone out there!?!

If you think that your guild could use a FANTASTIC resto shaman that pew pews lighting bolts everyonce in awhile, please let me know. I would rather go to a guild that I know atleast one person then to roll in there as the new guy on the block.

I will not let you down!

My blog gets about 300 hits a day...I know that someone out there can help me.

mucho love

The Mailbox - Healing Chart Idiots

Morning blog lovers!

I received an email a few weeks back about healing charts and what I thought of them. I figured I would write a post about it and my thoughts on them. Here is the email I received...

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your blog...early this year I joined a new guild and decided to respec my shaman into resto so that I could be more beneficial to the guild. We raid, but we're not a raiding guild per se; so while we'll never see true end game content we have a blast clearing Naxx 10 & 25 weekly and pushing our way through Ulduar.

I was hoping that you might consider discussing your thoughts on healing meters on a future blog...because my GM and I had a fairly heated debate about them most recently. I'll give you the background on the situation that let to this.

We farm OS10 & 25 for Emblems of Conquest every week...and for the most part we're all fairly overgeared for the instance; especially when we do it with no drakes up. On a recent run we went with three healers..two Resto Shamans (one being me) and a Holy Pally. (who happens to be the GM.) She assigned herself to heal the MT and told the two shammys to handle OT and Raid.

As I said we're all overgeared for the raid, so there wasn't a whole lot of significant damage being taken by anyone..other than the MT who always holds aggro like a pro. After each fight the GM started linking healing meters and getting on the shaman's cases for not doing their job. (no one died, btw). She knows my thoughts on healing meters in general, and I also tried to explain to her that she was single target healing the only person in the raid who was taking any significant damage but she wasn't hearing it. I told her that I could have outhealed her had I stood in a pool of lava and spammed RT>HW>HW during the boss fights...but that wouldn't necessarily make me an effective raid healer.

IMHO, you can't measure healing the same way that you measure total damage/dps. There are too many extraneous factors (one of which is illustrated above.) I do think healing meters have their place as one piece of the puzzle in pinpointing immediate problems; but if no one is dying and no healers are going OOM then there isn't a problem to pinpoint.

It has gotten so bad that I've taken a break from raiding with the guild (particularly when she's around...lol); but it seems weird to me to keep saying "no thanks, I'd rather run Ulduar with a pug this week."

Now I don't claim to be neither a master healer nor an uber raider; but I am good at my job to the point where I'm typically on the top of the list when raid invites go out. But if I have to concentrate on putting up high numbers as opposed to doing what is best for the raid I may need to either retire from raiding or find another guild to run with.

Again, take care and thanks again for your blog!

First off, your welcome and thank you for your compliments...they make me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Now, about healing meters and your retarded GM...

It completely dumb founds me that raid leaders do not know how to use healing meters and is one of my biggest pet peeves in terms of WoW. My beef with healing metes is that you can not look at just the "healing done" portion. You have to look at several different charts to get a good idea of what is going on and if someone is slacking.

The three that I check are...

  1. Healing Done
  2. Over healing Done
  3. Heals per second
I check them in that order and when you do that you get a pretty good idea of what the healers are doing and if any of them are quote / unquote "slacking". All three of them are very beneficial, but you have to know how to read them and not over react or jump to conclusions.

Healing Done

It gives you a very generic, non detailed view on the healing output your healers are doing. Not much more to say other then that really. This is what everyone looks at and makes judgements off of.

Negatives - It doesn't take into effect the role of the healers, being raid healing or single target healing. It also doesn't care about over healing. It just measures straight healing done. If you decide to spam heal yourself until your out of mana while you are already at full health....it will take all of that and put it in its records. I don't know about you, but I strive for no over healing. There are some that do not care and like to see themselves at the top....so by just looking at this chart and nothing else, you are not getting the whole picture.

Positives - It does show overall healing done, which in most cases, paints a pretty good picture. However, like I said before, it does not give you the whole picture and this more times then not causes drama.

Over Healing Done

Druids, beware, this is mostly about you! A good resto druid should always be at the top of the healing done. It is very, very, rare that one isn't. Alot of the time Druids are number 1 on the healing done chart by 5-10% more then everyone else. I have had numberous "talks" with people asking me why my healing wasn't up to par with the driud and I always link them the over healing chart.

The majority of the time, Druids are numbero uno on that chart too. Usually by more then 5-10%....more like 15-20% more then almost everyone. Druids can't really help overhealing though, its just one of those things about HoTs.

I notice that holy pallys have alot of over healing too. That is because they are more of an "active healer" compared to a "reactive healer". Meaning that it is better to keep the tank top off and not let them get too low. This type of healing is going to have more over healing due to the mechanic, not the healer.

Everyone else though, really should have low over healing. If any other class / spec has a higher over healing percentage then a holy pally or a resto druid, then then are either....

A. Trying too hard
B. Stroaking their epeen to show off on the healing done charts.
C. Being stupid

Remember, over healing is a negitive stat, not something you want to be number 1 at ok?

Heals Per Second

This is a good chart you can take at face value. However, you have to take the role of the healer before coming to a clear result. For aoe healers, 2k hps overall is a good number to shoot towards. I have done boss fights and ended with doing 4k hps for the fight. That normally doesn't happened though. When you are done raiding for the night, look at the hps...if its 2k or above, the healer was pretty much on his/her game. If lower, think about the situation a little more before coming to a conclusion.

Overview

When you want to see how you are stacking up against other healers in your raid, first check the healing done charts. If you notice anything weird or something that doesn't make sense to you, (ie - you are healing your ass off and you are 3rd on the list) go to the Over Healing chart. More then likely the people that are above you in the healing done chart will be WAY above you in the over healing chart.

If you want to do further research on how a healer(s) is doing, check the hps chart. This is the only way to effectively grade your healing cores. Not by linking the healing done meter in raid and then asking your healers why they suck....what a doucebag.

The Black Sheep

There is always one of them and in the healing world its disc priests. They will ALWAYS be dead last in regards to healing meters and this is because the majority of their spells are designed to absorb dmg, not heal through it.

There is a mod out there will take this into affect and actually show you the way that recount does, but I have no idea what it is or what it is called. I looked for it for awhile, but due to being a work, everything is blocked. If I find it later when I am home I will update.

EDIT: - Check out this post, it should open your eyes in regards to Disc spec'd priest.

In regards...

To your raid leader that decided to make an issue on a OS 10 run given the situation you explained is utterly retarded. I hate drama and to have a "heated conversation" (aka drama) over healing meters for a OS 10 run would make me /gquit with the quickness.

I mean seriously....who does that?

As a healer you need to do what is needed for the raid to succeed, not just heal and be number 1 on the healing charts.

Casual Mode Engaged

Hola blog lovers!

This past week has been a very interesting week for me, both in real life and in WoW. (/shock)

First off, I had to work the first shift and surprisingly, I liked it alot. I got to hang out with co-workers that I never see and it was surprisingly fun. I definitely thought about making a permanent switch to the first shift, but as of now, that isn't a possibility. I get paid 10% more working the shift that I work now and that would be gone if I went to the first shift. Being a new house owner, I can afford to give that up right now. Maybe in a few months or so, but definitely not right now.

How it started...

So what else happen? Oh yeah...lots of WoW related stuff. I have been playing again, alot more then I have been the past 3 months. Hell, this weekend alone I probably put in 10+ hours of WoW action.

Let me back up a little though...

My fucking ps3 decided it wasn't going to read discs anymore. Of course it isn't under warranty anymore, that ended 6 months ago. I could either ship the ps3 to Sony and pay them 150 bucks to have them fix it or use that 150 bucks to do something useful, like pay bills. Unfortunately, I have to use it to pay bills.

It was about 2 days after this and I was having video games withdraws. No ps3 to play, so I thought I would attempt to start playing some WoW. A few real life friends of mine, who played on my server, informed me that they have rerolled to another server and leveling ally toons! /shock!

Sounds fun right?

...yeah /wrist

So I decided to join them and make an ally toon. My favorite race in the game is part of the alliance (Dwarfs), so what the hell. I really wanted to level / play a druid, but I couldn't bring myself to actually play a night elf. Just the thought makes me want to deactivate my account.

However, all of the playable classes for dwarfs do not interest me at all. I could rock a Space Goat, but I ran into the same problem. None of the classes interested me, like AT ALL....none. So I made a priest because it was the best option in my mind.

FYI....leveling a priest is horrible, especially at the lower levels...like 1-20. Its boring and I was only doing it to feed my video game withdraw and hang out with my friends that rerolled.

So that was about 2 weeks ago, but last week is when it got really interested lol.

Back on my old server

I am not going to get into too much detail about this subject, but the guild that I created, managed, and spent a retarded amount of time on, is now strictly a social guild that only has real life friends as members.

I always thought about kicking everyone out except my real life friends, but it seemed the guild was still raiding and kicking ass. Reading through the guild forums lately was pretty sad though. The few core raiders that we had left, were really upset and looking for some sort of leadership to step up and lead the guild. You know, setup structure and a direction...stuff like that.

I spoke with a few people via private messaging and overall, it was bad. We were 10/14 in Ulduar 10 man with progression happening every week. Since I left, the most they killed is 6. Not to mention that people weren't enjoying playing the game anymore, let alone raiding. The final straw is when I found out that they were having major issues getting 10 people online to raid weekly. Alot of the time they would pug someone or not even raid.

So I decided to end it. I didn't /gdisband, I just kicked everyone out that wasn't a very good friend. I also kicked out the active players, I didn't think it was fair to them to be in a guild with no leadership or direction. I thought I was doing people a favor, force them to find another situation that suites them better.

Instead, they reformed and created a new guild with damn near the same people lol. Atleast this guild has leadership and a direction, its amazing =P

Guild Forums

That was fun. It was mostly people saying how much fun they had and that they understood why I did what I did. No hard feelings, ect...I did have some hate / nerd rage, some which I was ok with, some not lol.

The one guy that was pissed off at me was a long time member, but not a raider. Understandable, but I replied to his nerd rage and overall he understood where I was coming from.

Another guy went off on me pretty hardcore. The funniest thing about it is that I never met the guy before. He was recruited after I stopped playing. He went on about how much of a dick I was and actually said "fuck you"

....wait for it to set in

Yes, he actually got so upset that kicked the 8-9 active people that he decided to go on a nerd rage rant and I was the target lol. I wanted to reply so bad and go the hell off on this dude....but I decided to not to. I did reply though...it was kinda funny...I just made him look stupid. I mean, he didn't even spell my name right lol.

If you are more interested in the drama, you can read it for yourself. After I took kicked 90% of the guild members out, I pretty much trashed our guild forums. I left some stuff opened for the public to view. See for yourself here

Back to the drawing board...

So what is a man to do? I need to feed my video game addiction. My console system is broke...my level 80 toons don't hold my attention long enough...my level 16 priest isn't fun to play, plus its on a bunk ass low pop server.

Damn right, I decided to level a druid on my server. Like I was saying before, I was really interested in leveling a druid, but I couldn't get myself to play a Night Elf. So at 2am on Friday night, I made a female tauren toon out of complete boredom.

Come to find out....I really like it.

I played for the majority of the weekend and got the druid to 22 already. I also joined up on a Naxx25 clear up of last two bosses on my shaman. It was fun to relearn how to heal / play during those encounters lol.

So there you have it, I am back playing WoW. I wouldn't call it a complete comeback, but hell....10+ hours over the weekend....that is more then I played combined over the past 3 months lol.

Until next time...I'm WTFout!

Here's the Scoop - New Blog

I have been thinking alot lately. (I know, fucking scary thought.....I am aware =P)

This blog and 97% of its readers are looking for WoW related stories and events. They don't care about my other interests or life stories. They may not dislike them, but that isn't the reason why they come to this blog. They want to hear WTFPWNAGE stories about raids, new information about their favorite class, and overall interesting reads about World of Warcraft.

For the past 9 months I have enjoyed writing about these things. I have met and created relationships with people from all around the world because of my writings on WoW.

But for the past 2 months, I haven't had anything to say WoW related. My love for the game is still there, but my passion for playing is gone. Here is the crazy thing, I found out that I really enjoy blogging. I really enjoy writing down what is on my mind and have people comment / discuss it.

Do you see my problem????

WTF do I do with my blog??

It would seem wrong to switch the theme of my blog this far into it. I have over a 100 articles and over 600 comments (mostly helpful ones =P) all regarding WoW. Even though I am only posting an average of 1 post every 8 days, I am still getting over a 100 hits a day on my website from my other articles.

It would just seem silly to switch themes and ruin all of that.

So my other option?

Create a new blog of course! Except that noone would probably read or comment on my articles LOL. Which is, unfortunately, why I love blogging. The interaction, the discussions, the thought that I know someone is going to actually read my article.

Those reasons weren't important to me when I first started blogging, but without it I wouldn't have made it past a few months. My readers is what keeps me going. Without them, its just not the same.

Crossroads

So yeah, that is what I have been thinking about lately. Our favorite DK Tank, P, hasn't posted for a long time for the same reasons. He actually started his own blog, Lincoln Freed the Slaves - Semi-professional Asshattery.

Its pretty hilarious title IMO. You really have to know "P" in real life to understand how funny it actually is. The blog is mostly about other interests (Mixed Martial Arts, Fantasy Football, Movies, Music, Other video games, ect) in his life other then WoW and funny, humorous stories / events.

I wrote an article on his site last week about titled, "Sicilians, Blacks, and 30 lbs of Cocaine". Pretty much about one of my favorite movies and one of the best scenes in that movie.

What does this mean? Get to the point!

Until I start playing WoW again or until I have a post that I would like to share with the masses (probably 2-3 times a month). I am going to be blogging about wild shit over at Lincoln Freed the Slaves - Semi-professional Asshattery. I hope you visit and put us on your reader. If you like WTFspaghetti's writing style / personality and have been reading this blog for awhile, come check us out.

I would appreciate it <3

So until next time, I'm WTFout of here!

Friday's Food for Thought - A Post about Life

Morning blog lovers!

Long time since I said that! The last post I wrote was damn near a month ago. Couple of reasons why, mostly because I haven't been playing much WoW lately. Well....I haven't really played at all. I think it has been damn near 3-4 weeks since I even logged in.

I don't plan to quit for good, but I needed a break for multiple reasons. As of today, I am a house owner. We close in two weeks and surprisingly, I am not excited.

Don't get me wrong, I am happy that I am taking the next major step in my life, but really, I am not looking forward to having all of the responsibility that comes with it. The past couple weeks I have been hanging on to the "teenager / slacker" mentality. I know that once sign the contract on the house all that is going to go out the window....or at least it should lol....we shall see.

No more WoW?

Like I said, I don't plan on quitting for good. However, I am going to take at least another month or so off. I really do think that my reason for not even logging on is due to the fact that I was looked at as the guild leader for my guild. Truthfully, I never thought when I made the guild that I was going to be the GM....even know the GM was on my account...

Confused? Keep on reading....

The guild was started by myself and a few real life friends. The goal was to becoming a 10 man raiding guild and where ever we went from there was all a plus. 95% of the guild was people that I was either friends with in game or real life and I liked it that way because I knew no one would cause any drama. We had the actual GM rank as an alt and a rank labeled "Boss" with two other people and myself. So we actually had 3 GMs with equal say on whats going on.

Then we started raiding and because Naxx was so easy, we had no problem clearing the place out during our first weekend of raids. About 2-3 weeks later we finally killed Maylgos and a few weeks after that, we had 2 groups clearing Naxx and Malygos weekly. Times were good and because of that we decided to take the next step as a guild and start doing 25 mans.

Naxx 25 was, imo, easier then Naxx 10 and Maylgos. There were definitely ups and downs, but overall it was a success in my eyes. We cleared 25 man Naxx numerous times and we even started clearing it in one day.

3.1 and the start of the bitching

First week of 3.1 and Ulduar, we were actually ranked 8 out of the horde side guilds. Our 10 man was making good progress every week and we were getting plenty of new recruits. About a month after 3.1 came out, everyone started to complain to me about a variety of shit. Everything from raid invites, 25 man progression, guild drama, certain people in the guild not liking each other and leaving,....it just got to a boiling point with me.

Every fucking time I would log in someone would message me with some nonsense that I didn't want to deal with. One thing that really got me was a social member that I knew in game for over 2 years quiting the guild and then putting my on ignore for something that I didn't even do. Another member that I also knew for a very long time got pissed off and complain to me, only to never log back in.

It really sucked out all of the fun for me. I left out ALOT of details because....really its boring and I would be bored even writing down. All of that guild nonsense plus the fact that I am trying to buy a house and stay away from any responsibility that I can added up to me taking a break from the game.

Do I feel bad for leaving people hanging? Oh yeah. I feel like a douche really...

Is the guild still raiding and going without me? As far as I can tell, they are still raiding and pwning it up. The other two people that were setup on a GMs are still running it from what I can tell.

Am I afraid to log back on? Kinda. I probably would have logged on once or twice but I know that once I do, I am going to be bombarded with questions and the general WTF factor. So I been taking the bitch route and just not logging.

What about the blog?!?

No worries, I am still going to maintain the blog. My co-author, P, still is playing and I am sure he will continue to write about the game. My posts for the time being are probably going to be off topic and more spread out. While I am on the subject, I want to thank all of my readers. Hopefully you will still continue to follow me through my journey of life, even though temporarily it isn't about WoW. If not, I understand, but thanks for reading / following anyway....me heart you long time.

Friday's Food for Thought - A Post about Life

This is the part of the blog that is a little off topic...fyi

Disrespect...

So, a few months back I wrote a post about elemental shamans. I didn't know too much about em, but I decided to make a post about it....hopefully it will help other people and through comments, maybe I would learn something. WoWinsider pick it up and posted it on its website. I had crazy amount of comments...good and bad...but all of them were helpful in my opinion.

I stated in the comment section the following:

"Thanks for all of the comments. Like I said, I wasn't 100% on everything dealing with elemental shamans, especially rotation. After I wrote this post and got home from work, I checked out some elemental gyphs and reading through the comment section, it really helped my decision on what to get. Thanks for all of the comments again, I know it helped me out."

I decided not to change my article, but I did put a note in stating the following:

"EDIT: For more information and corrections to my article. Please check out the comment section. It has ALOT of great information in regard to Elemental Shamans (gyphs, rotation correction, gear, helpful links, talents corrections, ect...)"

Even though my article had some incorrect information, with all of the comments I received on it, all of the correct information is there. Then I get a comment the other day that says...

"After all that stuff you spewed about hit cap increasing dps, you cant even get the rotation right."

...

Is this guy retarded? Maybe just a troll? Probably just a troll but this is the sole reason why I hate people. FYI to people that leave comments, if you don't have anything nice to say, feel free to say it. I'm ok with that. However, at least read the whole fucking article before you post something like this.

Without thinking I quickly wrote him a reply. Thinking back on it, I probably just should have let it go, but oh well. I went slightly nerd rage on him...

"To the douchebag above me that just posted. Blow me you ignorant piece of shit. If you read the fucking article you would of noticed the multiple times I said I didn't really know what I was talking about. Its not my fault that WoWinsider saw my article and decided to post it.

GTFO my blog and go make babies with your family, you incest, humpbacked mother fucker."

lol....yeah...Nerd rage is terrible thing lol........moving on

What a great article about Life...

I am a huge MMA fan. P got me hooked on it back in 2003-04 and I have become kinda addicted to watching people bang it out. My favorite announcer / interviewer is comedian Joe Rogan. I was lurking around today at work and found out that he has a blog! I read his first entry and I liked it so much...I am going to re post it. Seriously, you should read it....trust me.

So until next time, I'm WTFout!

Are you experienced?
June 5, 2009 Posted in The Rogan Blog Blog Archives

I ran into a fellow stand up comic at the airport yesterday, and he was there with his wife and his baby boy. Ever since my daughter was born I have acquired this immense fascination with babies. I see them everywhere, and I can’t take my eyes off them. I spot them all over the place, and occasionally these babies will be with a full grown human that I already know. That’s what happened yesterday at LAX.

I looked up and saw this cute little baby being held by one of the Sklar brothers, an LA comedy team of twins.I wasn’t sure which twin it was, but they’re both really nice guys, so I’m equally happy to see either one.

“You made a person?”
“I made a person.”
“Wow. That’s awesome man, congrats. I made one too.”

And just like that, we were “those guys.”We were the kind of men that I used to see in my younger days and shake my head in confusion. Two flowery, baby-loving weirdoes - wild eyed and intoxicated, tripping on the true opiate of the masses.

His wife came over and the baby love-talk escalated to the point where I started to feel light-headed. The three of us just sat there and expressed our new parent delight with each other in the presence of their beautiful, 6 month old boy like a trio of junkies waxing poetically on hitting the thickest vein with the sweetest smack.

Making a human is a truly surreal experience. It’s so titanically bizarre that I always compare it to a psychedelic trip, in that if it hasn’t happened to you there’s almost no way that I can accurately express to you what it’s like. You just have to experience it.

I used to dismiss a lot of experiences that I hadn’t had yet, simply because it’s easier to do than consider them or actually go out and have them. The world was confusing enough to me when I was a young man, and the last thing I thought I wanted back then was to have my ego obliterated by some monumentally humbling experience. Back then I just wanted to feel secure and get my life in order. I didn’t need more questions, I just needed a life.

Once I felt like I had some semblance of a life, then I started asking questions, and from there the true nature of this life began to slowly unfold. One of the craziest things that I’ve learned from any enlightening experience, it’s that every time I learn something new whatever knowledge I gain from it brings with it many, many times more new questions.

I remember my first mushroom trip. I was somewhere around 30 years old. I tried as much as I could to be a good person back then, but I was (and still am) very much a work in progress. I wasn’t sure what I wanted out of life other than to be happy, and I wasn’t exactly sure how to pull that off. I found a tremendous amount of people to be annoying, and I had to do my best to calm my natural tendency to be hyper-aggressive. Don’t get me wrong - I’ve always strived to be a good person and do the right thing in my life, but occasionally I struggled with douchy-ness.

Enter, my friend the magic mushroom. They don’t taste like much. They’re almost like a slightly more boring version of some kind of hippie vegan rice cake snack that you might get at a local health food store. I bet if you could add some sort of a spicy, salty seasoning to them they could be even be quite tasty. You don’t do it, though. Why? Because for some reason it just doesn’t seem right. It seems insulting.

Some people do change the flavor of it, and I’m pretty sure they still get there, but the way I’ve always looked at it is that if you’re really having that much of a problem with the taste, then you’ve either got some really weird taste buds, or you’re a whiny bitch that has a shitty attitude, and you’ll complain about just about anything, and that’s a terrible attitude to have going into a trip.

People on fear factor ate rotten animal dicks for a chance at $50,000 dollars and you’re telling me you have a problem eating bland fungus for a chance at contacting god?

Wait… Contacting who?

Now, if my young self had ever heard my current self saying something this crazy, I would have thought that I was a fucking crackpot, and I would have probably immediately dismissed me. I was far more convinced that I had the answers that I needed from life back then than I am now, and anything that challenged that perception was just labeled “bullshit” for my own protection.

I’ve had many intense psychedelic experiences, and one of the most profound effects of these trips isn’t just that the world feels strange when you’re on them, but that the world is forever changed once you’re back. Once the genie is out of the bottle it’s impossible to forget.

Mushrooms were the first real psychedelics that I tried, so I really had no idea what to expect. I heard that you “hallucinate” on them, so I expected to see a bunch of shit that wasn’t there. What actually happened was far stranger than that.

I didn’t see anything that wasn’t there, but I did see the things that have always been there in a totally different way. The first thing I noticed after I started to feel “funny” was that there seemed to be an underlying geometric pattern to everything that I could never see before. It was almost like I had put on some goggles that allowed me to see secret connections that everything shared.

Everything seemed to be made of these patterns, and despite the solid nature of the world I was looking at, it almost felt like what I was seeing was that everything that seemed separate was actually just one huge, all encompassing thing expressing itself in different frequencies.

As the trip got deeper the natural world around me seemed to be made out of thoughts, and as the effects of the mushrooms made these thoughts stranger and stranger, the world itself seemed to merge with these thoughts and become indistinguishable.

The hills were breathing. I watched them pulsate in and out in fascination, until I realized that it was my own breath that was making this happen. It was like I was now looking at the world as it was being projected onto a very thin screen, and every time I breathed it was teasing me with what was behind the screen like a hot chick wearing see-through lingerie.

By this time I was psychically naked for the first time in my life. I realized how much of what I thought of as “me” was just psychic armor that I had applied long ago and forgotten about. Social status, accumulated material possessions, accomplishments, friendships and feuds alike - all stripped away to reveal a core; a core with no language, no culture, and no fear. Then this core was shown the true nature of this world, and I watched things that I always thought of as “normal” as if I was a visiting alien from another galaxy.

All the predetermined patterns of behavior that we follow were all revealed like tracks on a grid, and the more we follow these tracks the less we have to think. The tracks can be completely bizarre, but as long as they’re there even the most unlikely of patterns will be followed.African women will cut their lips and stretch them out to fit plates. American men will wrap a traditional cloth around their neck and hang it in front of their chest in order to be taken seriously in a business meeting. It was all the same thing manifesting itself in different actions.

I saw the whole world like I would see it if I was an alien. Eventually I came back, and the world stopped breathing, and the mushrooms stopped talking to me - but I don’t think I’ve ever looked at anything the same way since.

I’ve always said that if we were seeing our world not even as an alien, but just from the perspective of people living a few hundred years ago it would seem almost impossibly bizarre. I have this routine that I follow where I hire a car to take me to the airport, and while he’s driving I sit in the back seat and get on the internet on my laptop.Seems pretty normal and straight forward to most folks.

Now if you really think about it, just 400 years ago this “normal” routine that I have would have been the stuff of the strangest fiction.I’m moving faster than a sprinting horse inside a big metal box that’s powered by tiny controlled explosions and we’re rolling over a hard, man made surface that’s interconnected throughout the entire continent. I’m typing away on a machine that is interfaced with the entire world through some invisible signal that almost instantly connects me to the entire current sum of accumulated human knowledge, and while all this crazy shit is happening, I’ll occasionally pull out something smaller than my hand, and I’ll use it to talk to people that are on the other side of the fucking world.

I will eventually get to a giant group of buildings where I will be scanned for explosives. I’ll then be strapped into a metal tube that’s also powered by explosions, and along with hundreds of other people I’ll be hurled through the sky so high that you can see the curve of the earth, and so fast that you literally go forward in time for the slightest fraction of a second.

What…
The…
Fuck.

To pay for all of this I don’t give them gold coins, or a goat, or even let them fuck me. All I have to do is let them hold on to a small card that I have, and then I’ll scribble something that’s supposed to represent “me” on a piece of paper. This stands as an agreement that I am willing to pay in the future for this experience, and I will use this strange method to aquire everything in my life.

At the end of each 30 days I will pay for the total that I owe by, wait for it… writing on a piece of paper. Most of my bills are paid online now, so in that case I’m not even writing anything. I’m just pressing on little buttons, and those little button presses support me and fortify my life.
That’s our everyday life, and if you lived 500 years ago and explained that this is what the future would be like there would be a very good chance that a group of people would burn you at the stake.

I’m sitting in a hotel room in Nashville right now finishing this up. I will copy and paste it into a location that my web browser is pointed to, and it will be read by thousands of people almost immediately. I’ll then head out to a club in town where people have agreed to come and listen to me make noises with my mouth that represent the focused thoughts bouncing around in my mind. These thoughts will make people think, and by laughing at them, they will actually make people feel better.

I will never say that I truly understand this world, because the more I learn about it the more I feel that’s actually impossible. What I can say though, is that as strange as it is, I appreciate every bizarre moment of it. I appreciate the freedom to think this way, and I appreciate the patience and attention of all you people reading and considering all this crazy shit.

It would be a lot easier to understand what the fuck I’m talking about if you did some mushrooms. Or had a baby. Either one, really.

Mad love to you all.

25 Man Woe's, UFC talk

What is so difficult about 25 mans?

This is not a rhetorical question. What REALLY is harder about 25 mans?

Personal responsibility is less. That should make it easier though, Right? I mean 1 person dieing is proportionally less dps or healing than losing someone in a 10 man instance. If a tank goes down you are more likely to have a back up tank available to pick the boss up in a 25 man.

I guess the gear requirement or dps threshold is a bit higher, But I have found that most of the increased dps needed on the 25 man raids comes from having so many more buffs(not to mention access to 25 man gear if you are running 25 man raids). Its not as if the dps gap needed for a 10 man and a 25 man is so great that you need to have a whole new rotation or be ultra precise with your current one. You just have a few more buffs, possibly a bit better gear, and pound out your rotation as usual.

Is it the strategies? Doubtful. With a few minor differences that all come down to gimmick, the fights are the same in 25 man.
Is it the caliber of player we take? In the 10 mans, everyone seems motivated on their own. They rebuff, they run back, they don't afk.
It really comes down to the fact that it is much harder to get 25 qualified people online and ready to go than it is to get 10.

Guild Woe's

As you may have gathered from my rant, our guild has been very FAIL with the 25 man raids these days. It honestly saps my desire to play. As officers collectivity we are tired of having to pug people into our runs. Its a burden and ALWAYS leads to the raid starting late. It prevents us from getting loot into the hands of those that need it. Pugs are also not welcome in progression raiding. They either won't know the fight/Can't preform said fight, OR they will leave early and frustrated that we couldn't down it. We have come to the conclusion that if there is not 25 guildies on to run the raid, we will break down into two 10 man groups.

Holy S%#7

I have been working on my priest a bit lately. You really start to notice the lack of re-playability on the quests. I am not one for leveling in the first place, but when you have to do the exact same quests it makes it even worse. Once again, I don't think I could have done it(can do it?) without Jame.

As the header sort of implys, I plan on taking my priest down the healer path(although I will likely go the disc route). I did a lot of arenas as disc at level 70 so I am familar with the bag of tricks I will have. At this point I can't wait to get rid of my shadow spec and start healing peoples faces off (or back on I guess).

UFC Undisputed 2009

This game is the mad notes. I was a bit skeptical at first considering how bad the old ufc games were, but this game hit it right on. I am not going to say the game is perfect. There are some minor things that could be done here and there to tighten up the single player. The AI is ridiculously hard to submit. I was really upset that submissions were not an realistic way to win. Turns out though, in multiplayer they seem pretty balanced. As a ufc fan I give this game a 9.5. As a general video game fan I would give it a solid 8 or 8.5. The controlls are pretty much spot on and it really captures the feel of the ufc.

...Speaking of UFC. UFC 98 tommarow night. Evans v. Machida! Battle of the unbeatens. THE GREATEST FIGHT IN UFC HISTORY! (arn't they all? I'm pretty sure that claim is made before every single ppv.)

My breakdown goes like this. Machida will win if the fight goes to decision. He will also win if Evans falls into the trap of chasing him around the ring. He could also finish the fight via submission or ground and pound. I see Evans winning the fight if he sucssesfully imposes his will against Machida. If Evans is able to utilize his explosiveness and power, he could get the KO. I don't really see evans winning the fight via GnP, but I guess its possible.

All in all I'm giving the fight to Machida. His elusiveness will be to much for Evans. Unless Evans manages the KO shot I don't see him winning the fight in any other way.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Don't Hate the Playa

Morning blog lovers!

Yesterday I told you about how much time I had to sleep before work. How did it work out?

Yeah....I called off lol. I got a metric ton of sleep and I am SUPER refreshed for the day ahead of me.

The main reason for this post is to mention some new additions to my blog roll. To be on my blog roll, lets face it. They have to be unique, funny, or information, and they all have to be entertaining. I think that these 3 blogs fit the bill and I welcome them to my blog roll.

Without any further interuptions!

Skrooge - Skrooge is on the mission to make THA CASHMONEY. He reminds me a little of the Greedy Goblin, but cooler. His post are informational and harilous. Check him out....funny little gnome he is.

miss elf - Long time blogger and there is a reason, she good at what she does. Lots of good information for Mages and all other classes of WoW.

Shadowy Goodness - New blogger and started for the same reasons why I did. I found out that he is on my server, yet I do not know what faction he is. He has some pretty funny posts so I figured, what the hell. Maybe I will bring his blog into a bigger light.

Until next time blog lovers, I'm WTFout!

Friday's Food for Thought - Naxx Haikus , Ideal Raider

to update the blog
random thoughts exist, friday
abe freed the slaves

This may seem a little stream-of-thought. No prose written out and meticulosly edited. (only half -assed editing goes on here at wtf!) I want to discuss a lot of different subjects today. I'll start with WoW as that is why most everyone who comes here, comes here. (you like that??!?!)

Naxx Fights in Haiku form:

Anub' Rekhan: Kill the adds quickly
Tank kite, Heals avoid silence
kill more adds, loot boss

Grand Widow: Stop enrage,kill adds
What makes this Widow so grand?
take pity on her spouse

Maexxna: Big spider scares me
kill spiders, web wrap, web spray
I always die here

Noth: Tank adds, D P S
decurse, decurse, decurse, NOW!
why have we wiped here?

Heigan: Dance if we want to
You died? Feel shame. We finish
Leave your friends behind

Loatheb: Timing your heals here
wait for it! wait for it! NOW!
get spore, d p s

I will try to do the rest of them some time next week. That is assuming that 3.1 is not out, because we all know that our blogging is often related inversely to the amount we play. If 3.1 comes out I expect to be off dpsing somewhere or trying out new tanking specs. But hey, maybe then you will get actual information out of my ramblings (wishful thinking).

On the Raiding/Guild front: I finally got a chance to try Maly! It was a fun fight. We spent a few hours in there wiping and never actually cleared him, But it was good to experience a new fight (Naxx is getting WAY boring). Our troubles, as with most groups, came about in phase 3. We got pretty close one time but people started dieing and letting stacks drop. I am confident that I will be able to kill him within the next week. I sure hope we do because I would really like to get Champion of the Frozen wastes before 3.1.

I am very happy with the progress of our guild. It seems to me that 80% (number pulled directly from my ass) of running a raiding guild is in finding the right people. When you get a solid core of people everything seems to go smooth. The most important thing you can do is have a vision for what you want the guild to become, and recruit those who fit the mold.

Fish over at Gnome Warrior is an Oxymoron had a post that says there are two types of raiders, that while flawed did hold a lot of truth. He basically said that one type of player is constantly looking to improve there toon through any means possible and the second type of player is basically a social player who goes to raids because they enjoy the people they raid with. He calls the first type of player a gear whore and claims he wouldn't want to be in a guild with them.

The main issue I take here is the connection he draws between improvement and gear. While obviously an important factor when talking about character progression or improvement, gear is not the end all be all of improvement. Take for example a hunter in our guild. Over the course of a month, with minimal gear upgrades, went from doing sub-par dps to topping the charts. Huge improvement. very little of it gear related.

I think the issue I take with people not in his group is that if their performance is bad or even average, they will often blame it on gear.
"If only I had more epics I would do more dps" Instead of trying to improve their rotation, cooldown usage, or even spec.

Fish has since updated his thoughts to a two variables of raiders (which I like much more)
The ideal raider has high motivation to improve, AND enjoys the company of their fellow raiders.

Real Life

With the economy in the toilet, I have been of the mind that it is a great time to be broke. If you do not own any stocks, or have a 401k. Then a lot of this mess doesn't directly affect you (me). Now though I am feeling a bit of the heat. My job is cutting hours. Voluntarily at first, and then possibly involuntarily. While this might give me more time for WoW, This is NOT a good thing. The writing is on the wall and I really don't want to have to find a new job during this economic downturn.

It is OK though. For I have the answer! Why Legalizing Marijuana Makes Sense
Would give a whole new meaning to the term "green jobs"

Well at least the economy isn't as messed up as our judicial system! Sexting
teenagers with naked pictures of classmates possibly charged with child porn. The girls who took the pictures of themselves getting charged with distributing child porn.

My only question, Where were these girls when I was a teen?
